To support this commitment, we have established the following policies to clearly outline expectations, protect our customers, and protect our shop. These guidelines help ensure repairs are performed efficiently, safely, and fairly, while allowing us to stand behind our work with confidence.
We encourage all customers to review these policies prior to authorizing service. If you have any questions, our team is always happy to explain the process and provide clarity before work begins. Transparency protects everyone—and that’s how we do business.
Company Policies & Terms of Service
By authorizing service at Built Not Bought Auto Repair and Customs, you acknowledge and agree to the following policies and terms.
Accepted Forms of Payment
Built Not Bought Auto Repair and Customs does not accept personal checks. Accepted forms of payment include cash, debit card, credit card, or other approved electronic payment methods. Full payment is required prior to vehicle release unless otherwise agreed upon in writing.
Deposits
A deposit may be required before work begins, especially for:
Custom work
Special-order or non-returnable parts
Extensive or high-cost repairs
Deposits are non-refundable once parts are ordered or work has begun.
Customer-Supplied Parts
To ensure quality, safety, and warranty coverage, Built Not Bought Auto Repair and Customs does not install customer-supplied parts. All parts must be sourced through our shop. This allows us to properly warranty parts and labor and ensure compatibility and reliability.
Estimates & Repair Authorization
Estimates are based on initial inspection and are not final invoices.
Authorization is required before any work is performed.
Authorization may be given verbally, electronically, or in writing.
Any additional repairs discovered beyond the original estimate will require customer approval prior to proceeding.
Diagnostic Fees
Diagnostic services are billed separately and are non-refundable, regardless of whether repairs are approved. Diagnostic fees cover the time and expertise required to identify issues and do not guarantee a specific repair outcome unless repairs are performed by our shop.
Repair Duration & Storage Fees
If a repair exceeds 48 hours due to:
Customer decision delays
Customer-requested work delays
Delayed or incomplete payment
A storage fee of $10 per day will be charged for each day the vehicle remains at our facility beyond the initial 48-hour period. Storage fees apply regardless of repair status and will be added to the final invoice.
Payment & Vehicle Release
Full payment is required before vehicle release.
Vehicles will not be released until all charges, including storage and diagnostic fees, are paid in full.
Declined or disputed payments may result in additional fees and suspension of work.
Communication & Mechanics Lien
Timely communication is required to ensure uninterrupted service. If communication lapses for 30 consecutive days, Built Not Bought Auto Repair and Customs reserves the right to initiate a mechanics lien in accordance with applicable state laws. The lien may include charges for completed repairs, parts, labor, diagnostics, and accumulated storage fees.
Abandonment of Vehicle
Any vehicle left at our facility for 90 days or more without customer contact or payment will be considered abandoned. In such cases, Built Not Bought Auto Repair and Customs reserves the right to take all actions permitted by law, including but not limited to lien enforcement, removal, sale, or disposal of the vehicle.
Warranty Policy
Warranty applies only to parts and labor supplied by Built Not Bought Auto Repair and Customs.
Warranty does not cover:
Customer neglect, abuse, or misuse
Pre-existing or unrelated failures
Aftermarket or performance modifications unless otherwise stated
No warranty is offered on customer-supplied parts (which are not accepted).
Pre-Existing Conditions & Vehicle Condition
Vehicles may have existing wear, corrosion, damage, or prior workmanship issues. Built Not Bought Auto Repair and Customs is not responsible for failure of unrelated components or incidental damage caused by rusted, seized, or weakened parts during normal repair procedures.
Custom & Performance Work Disclaimer
Custom, performance, or modified vehicles carry inherent risks. Built Not Bought Auto Repair and Customs makes no guarantee regarding longevity, drivability, emissions compliance, or compatibility of modified components unless otherwise stated in writing.
Test Drives
Vehicles may be test-driven as necessary for diagnostics, repair verification, safety checks, or quality control.
Personal Property
Customers are responsible for removing personal items from their vehicle. Built Not Bought Auto Repair and Customs is not responsible for loss, theft, or damage to personal belongings left inside the vehicle.
Scheduling & Appointments
Appointment times are estimates and do not guarantee immediate work start.
Delays may occur due to parts availability, workload, or unforeseen issues.
Repeated no-shows or late arrivals may result in rescheduling or required deposits for future appointments.
Environmental & Shop Fees
Environmental, shop supply, disposal, or hazardous waste fees may be applied as required by law or operational necessity.
Right to Refuse Service
Built Not Bought Auto Repair and Customs reserves the right to refuse service to any customer or vehicle for any lawful reason.
Governing Law
All services and disputes shall be governed by the laws of the state in which Built Not Bought Auto Repair and Customs operates.
